The language of modern poetry introduces sacredness into the ordinary circumstances of our every day lives. It can infuse our homes and communities with compassion, serenity and a kind of light heartedness that does not dismiss the sorrows of our hearts, but allows for the numinous in their midst.
Modern poet, David Whyte, writes -
This is not the age of information. This is not the age of information.
Forget the news, and the radio, and the blurred screen.
This is the time of loaves and fishes.
People are hungry,
and one good word is bread,
for a thousand.
If you are hungry for thoughtful, gentle conversation, come and spend time in quiet reflection in the company of a selection of modern poets who open up the often bleak landscape to the marvellous.
There is no cost to the event. Light refreshments will be served. The library is located at 201 Owen Sound Street, Shelburne. Rose Dotten is the library’s gracious host, welcoming all manner of groups and conversations into dialogue.
